She also conducts research investigating new approaches to minimize lymphedema for patients who require removal of the underarm lymph nodes. Biography: Dr. Montgomery is an internationally recognized, board certified surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer. She hails from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where she was an attending breast surgeon for over 11 years. During that time, she served as Director of the Special Surveillance Breast Program and the Director of the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program. Dr. Montgomery received her undergraduate degree at Stanford University, where she graduated with honors and distinction and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. As the Regent's scholar, she earned her medical degree at the University of California at San Francisco where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and a recipient of the Women in Medicine Achievement Award. After her residency in general surgery at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, she completed research fellowships at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
