The resident training program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center enjoys a regional and national reputation for excellence.
Montefiore Medical Center is comprised of three divisions; the 726-bed Henry & Lucy Moses Division, the 396-bed Jack D. Weiler Division which is adjacent to the medical school and the 369-bed North Division. A convenient shuttle bus provides transportation between the divisions.
Montefiore, with over 80,000 admissions annually, serves as the major health provider for the 2 million residents of the Bronx and nearby Westchester County and is a tertiary care center for patients from all parts of the New York metropolitan region. There are also several outpatient facilities that provide residents the experience of the rigors of private practice. State-of-the-art 3T MRI, helical CT, angiographic, mammographic, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine facilities are available at both Moses and Weiler outpatient facilities. Together, the inpatient and outpatient experiences expose trainees to all types of pathology and form the foundation for outstanding graduate radiology education.
Goals of the Program
The goals of the residency program are to train residents to:
- Perform and interpret all diagnostic and therapeutic imaging examinations
- Perform therapeutic interventions
- Direct imaging work-up in a timely, cost-effective manner
- Maintain competence through continued study of current medical literature and quality improvement feedback
The short term goal for residents is to become board certified in Diagnostic Radiology. In the past several years, our residents have had an impressive 100% pass rate for all parts of their board examinations and for the past 18 years 100% of graduates have pursued fellowships. We take pride in our residents' superior placement record and board exam success.
