Clinical and OD (Organizational Development/HRD) faculty in the Division of Education & Organizational Development have reached thousands of associates, families and patients across the network in formal classes, new associate and leader orientations, new equipment orientations, management development programs, e-learning opportunities, formal and informal consultations with staff, committee work, team building and strategic planning activities, computer classes, CIS training for professionals and paraprofessionals, continuing education offerings, and career development initiatives.

DEOD's  faculty and staff are acutely cognizant of the mission of Montefiore and constantly reflect keenly on the role they play in operationalizing that mission.  The Montefiore Excellence journey is very important to the DEOD faculty and staff.  Patient care comes first and through educational activities, DEOD strives to orient staff, and provide ongoing education that will enhance patient safety and welfare.  Montefiore is an academic medical center and, as such, ongoing learning and development should be a goal for each associate.  Educational activities focus on "raising the bar" of practice for clinicians and non-clinicians in order to facilitate cutting edge practice, creating an inspiring and motivating place to work, and enhancing individuals' sense of self-worth.  Nurturing a creative and critical thinking environment, managing and encouraging talent, assisting in making Montefiore a "learning place", and addressing the learning needs of MMC associates are our goals.

DEOD use of cutting edge technology to deliver more impactful learning experiences:

  • creating two new computer labs (3300 Rochambeau Avenue)
  • eLearning and blended learning, which is a combination of Instructor-led classes and eLearning modules and/or tests
  • a new Cardiac Life Support classroom was created at 3351 Steuben Avenue
  • SimMan, and SimBaby
  • Smart Board
