Orthopaedic Surgery

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center is a multidisciplinary department, including more than thirty fellowship trained orthoapedic surgeons and podiatrists. Our department cares for approximately 120,000 patient visits per year.

Our physicians are also actively involved in teaching medical students from Albert Einstein College of Medicine; we coordinate residency training programs in orthoapedic surgery and podiatric surgery and are involved in both clinical and basic science research in musculoskeletal medicine.

We focus on patient-centered care and are highly skilled at treating many routine problems that develop in the musculoskeletal system. In addition, our specialists are experts in adult reconstruction and joint replacement surgery, foot and ankle surgery, spine surgery, sports medicine and shoulder surgery, musculoskeletal tumor surgery, trauma surgery and pediatric orthoapedic surgery, who deliver highly specialized care and treat many difficult and challenging problems of the bones and joints.

The majority of our patients can be successfully treated without surgery. We partner with our patients to develop treatment plans that achieve maximal benefit for each individual. Patients are often successfully treated in collaboration with other Montefiore departments, including physical and occupational therapy, interventional musculoskeletal radiology, physical and rehabilitation medicine, and plastic surgery.
