Meet Our Physicians

Steven Robert Cohen, MD 
Dr. Cohen, Chief of the Division of Dermatology at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, has made numerous contributions to the field of dermatology. Upon completion of his Dermatology and Preventative Medicine residencies and Post Doctoral Research Fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine, he joined the Yale faculty. Since relocating to New York City in 1984, he has served as the Chairman of Dermatology for Beth Israel Medical Center and Vice-Chair of Dermatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Cohen has been honored as an outstanding teacher, receiving the Parker J. Palmer Award of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. He is recognized as one of the "Best Doctors in New York" by New York Magazine. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Skin Association and currently serves as President of the New York Dermatological Society.

Dina M. Began, MD
Dr. Began, an Assistant Professor and board-certified dermatologist, completed her dermatology residency at Indiana University Medical Center, where she was named Chief Dermatology Resident. After a fellowship at New York University School of Medicine (NYU), she served on the dermatology faculties of NYU, the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and the medical staff of St. Vincent's Medical Center. She has contributed to various publications on subjects ranging from blistering disorders to gout and calcinosis cutis (calcium deposit skin disorder) and amyloidosis. Her areas of expertise include adult and pediatric general and complex medical dermatology.

Eric Zachary Berkowitz, MD
Dr. Berkowitz is an assistant professor and board-certified dermatologist at the Division of Dermatology. He completed his internship here at Montefiore Medical Center and his dermatology residency and fellowship in procedural dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. A contributor to Treatment of Skin Disease Comprehensive Therapeutic Strategies 1st and 2nd editions. His primary interests focus on the treatment of skin cancer, both medical and surgical, and helping to alleviate the stigma associated with the treatment.

Ranon Ephraim Mann, MD
Dr. Mann, an assistant professor and board-certified dermatologist, completed his residency training in dermatology here before joining the medical staff of Montefiore and the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His areas of expertise include general and complex medical dermatology for both children and adults. He is Director of the HIV Dermatology Clinic at North Central Bronx Medical Center and head the Pediatric Dermatology Clinic at Montefiore. Active in the dermatology residency training program, Dr. Mann has been recognized as an outstanding clinical educator.

Cassandra Venable, MD
Dr. Venable, an Assistant Professor at the Division of Dermatology, is board-certified in dermatology, anatomic pathology, and dermatopathology. Upon completing her residency in pathology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, she pursued her fellowship in dermatopathology and a second residency in dermatology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She hails from S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook School of Medicine, where she was the Director of Dermatopathology, and has been with Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine since 1993.
