Rheumatology

Rheumatology

As a leader in advanced research and treatment of rheumatic diseases, the Division of Rheumatology offers treatment solutions for a better quality of life. Our experienced team of eight physicians and researchers provides advanced treatments for patients with a range of conditions, from lupus to arthritis.

Specialized Care

Our rheumatology clinics accept new and returning patients for diagnosis, treatment and
follow-up care of rheumatic diseases, including:

  • Lupus
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Soft-tissue rheumatism
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Other rheumatic diseases

Early diagnosis and treatment of certain rheumatic diseases can lead to reduced disability and joint pain. When referred to us by their primary care physicians, patients get the reassurance of a prompt, accurate diagnosis.

Osteoarthritis and other common and easily treatable conditions may require one or two visits to our clinic to confirm the diagnosis. The patient's primary care physician can manage all follow-up care.

Patients with rare conditions, such as vasculitis or lupus, receive specialized care that is necessary for the treatment of those diseases. Our rheumatology team works closely with patients to ensure that they are receiving the maximum benefit from their treatments, with minimal side effects.

Whether we are taking over a patient's primary care, or simply offering a short-term consultation, we begin with a thorough diagnostic evaluation that includes:

  • X-rays
  • Magnetic resonance imaging tests (MRIs)
  • Radiologic studies
  • Laboratory evaluation

Celebrated Expertise

We have an on-site immunodiagnostic lab, which means that patients receive test results more quickly than they would at institutions that rely on outside labs. Our collaborative relationships with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine enable us to provide seamless care for our patients who require joint replacement or other surgeries. Through our commitment to ongoing clinical research and use of innovative treatments for rheumatic diseases, we are constantly expanding our expertise and ability to offer accurate diagnoses and advanced treatments.
