Each year the clinics at Montefiore's Division of Rheumatology help 3,000 to 4,000 people avoid disability incurred through joint infirmity. Our rheumatology physicians and staff provide early diagnosis and improve the quality of our patients' lives. We also offer thorough follow-up treatment and management of all aspects of care for those with the following conditions:
Throughout a patient's care, our rheumatologists provide exceptional treatment, minimize side effects and adjust medication when necessary to help patients achieve the highest quality of life.
Specialized Arthritis Care
At our Arthritis Clinic, our experienced specialists offer patients the most advanced arthritis treatments and medications available. Our coordinated, long-range care program ensures maximum well-being, which can also include referring patients to appropriate rehabilitation services.
The benefits of our arthritis treatments include:
All patients receive a physical examination to determine the diagnosis and assess a range of possible treatments, from nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to targeted biologic therapies.
Once a patient has been diagnosed with arthritis, we start with an initial plan to ensure that the patient can tolerate a specific medication. We carefully explain each medication's possible side effects and risks, as well as the expected benefits. We observe patients for their response and for possible side effects associated with some medications. Our physicians adjust each patient's medication for maximum benefit.
