Welcome to the Montefiore Medical Center Psychology Internship Training Program. Our American Psychological Association-accredited, year-long predoctoral internship offers specialized training in a number of settings, unparalleled supervision by experts in the field and clinical experiences that will prepare you for a future in psychology.

While only a 30 minute subway ride from Midtown Manhattan, Montefiore is located in the North Bronx, New York, making it an ideal match for future psychologists who are interested in gaining experience in cross-cultural applications of clinical psychology with a largely Latino population, who often present with a history of trauma, socioeconomic challenges, and other psychosocial and environmental problems commonly experienced by underprivileged groups.

Ours is a vibrant, active academic medical center—one of the busiest hospitals in the country. We are proud of so much of what Montefiore offers, including a beautiful Children's Hospital and a large primary care network throughout the Bronx.

The psychology internship training program is part of the Division of Psychology within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Our department has an established reputation for delivering the highest quality clinical care, providing exceptional training opportunities for future psychologists, and is consistently ranked by US News & World Report among the top hospital departments of psychiatry in the nation.

Within this exciting environment, interns can select from comprehensive training experiences in the adult and child outpatient clinics, inpatient unit, psychiatric emergency room and substance abuse units. Interns receive specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy, as well as group and family therapy.

By being housed within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at a large, academic medical center, our psychology internship training program provides exposure to, and collaboration with, experts in virtually every field of medicine - from pulmonologists to transplant specialists to bariatric surgeons. We also offer cutting-edge elective experiences in areas including: geriatric psychiatry, sleep-wake disorders, school-based mental health, HIV clinic, marriage education project, managed care company, neuropsychological assessment, and the opportunity to participate in ongoing research.
